SIMadvantage - SIMaestro Overview

SIMaestro is a flexible utility that enables operators to deploy multiple applications on their SIM profile where it was not technically possible in the past. Without SIMaestro, operators are limited in the number and type of SIM applications they are able to offer their subscribers. SIMaestro enables operators to make the best use of the space on their SIM cards and to offer more comprehensive solutions to subscribers, thereby dramatically increasing the overall value of the SIM.

SIMaestro extends the 3GPP specifications which state that only one application on a SIM or USIM card may utilize events such as the Call Control or the Mobile Originated Short Message Control event. Specifically, SIMaestro allows multiple applications to share specific SIM Toolkit (STK) events by managing the information flow between the applications requiring the events.

SIMaestro allows multiple applications to check if specific events are available, to subscribe and unsubscribe to event notifications and to send event responses to the handset. It also enables applications to obtain the last number dialed without having to subscribe to the Call Control event or Call Control notification.
